Starting this week we will begin the finishing touches on the canoe for conference. This includes patching sanding, de-molding, staining and sealing. If you are interested in helping out in any of these areas please send me an email so we can get you involved.
We were able to get the first canoe out on water today and it performed great! We will now be practicing with this canoe to prepare for competition. We will now be increasing our paddling practice days from once a week to at least 2-3 times per week until conference.
On Saturday November 23rd we were able to construct our first canoe. Not only was this our first pour of the year but it was also a first pre-stressed concrete canoe SDSU has ever built! Thanks to all our sponsors and volunteers for the help and the continued support. We are scheduling a second pour early next year. Updates on the date and time for the second pour will be coming in the next couple of weeks. In the mean time start getting pumped up for PSWC which will be taking place April 3-5th 2014 and will be hosted here in SAN DIEGO!
Our construction team and structural analyst have began evaluating pre/post-stressed concrete as a method of reinforcing our canoe. If you are interested in helping or are simply curious with what this is come out and learn. Hit us up for meeting times.
If you are interested in seeing how variable concrete can be stop by and see what our mad scientist Billy is up to. He will be mixing on a regular basis from here on out. Mixing will be taking place in the concrete lab in the engineering building. Email Billy at firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
